The Olgapuri Market

Brand-new at Founder’s Day this year is our Olgapuri Market! We’ll be showcasing some artisan products handcrafted by the students at Olgapuri Vocational School (scroll down to see a preview of some of the incredible items we’ll be displaying!). Items will be available to take home upon making a suggested donation in support of our Vocational Education programs. That way, you’ll be helping even more young adults receive the resources and training they need to build bright futures right at home in Nepal.

NYF’s Vocational Education program is an extremely effective solution to many of Nepal’s workforce challenges. With limited access to job opportunities at home in Nepal, millions of young Nepali people leave the country in search of work abroad. Today, an estimated 3.5 million Nepalis are working abroad—many in unsafe, exploitative conditions. Olgapuri Vocational School, located on the Olgapuri campus in Kathmandu Valley, brings 20-student classes of men and women together for 3-month certification programs in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, and more.

Nepal’s rising generation is full of passionate, determined young people eager to build the Nepal of their dreams—and reap the rewards of their labor. We’re helping them do just that.
